Varietals: 100% Cabernet Franc

The grapes for this wine come from a very old Cabernet Franc vineyard in the Helderberg Basin, near the town of Somerset West. The vineyards boast deep, white pebble alluvial soils, similar to those of the Graves region in Bordeaux.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Keras Collection Cabernet Franc greets the senses with an inviting bouquet of fresh-cut cedar and the delicate, aromatic whispers of Darjeeling tea. On the palate, the wine showcases a delightful interplay of flavors, led by vibrant fresh loganberry and complemented by the subtle herbaceousness of freshly snipped garden herbs. What sets this Cabernet Franc apart is its perfect balance—an elegant harmony between fruity exuberance and earthy depth. The wine’s structure is underscored by suede-like tannins, which provide a velvety texture and a graceful finish that lingers long after the last sip. This is a bottle that beautifully encapsulates both finesse and complexity.

The Region

Stellenbosch
Western Cape
South Africa

South Africa’s most celebrated wine district, about 45 km east of Cape Town, spread across mountain foothills and valleys with granite-rich, ancient, well-draining soils and eight distinct wards. High sunshine, moderating sea and mountain influences, and varied terroir make it the country’s benchmark for structured, cellar-worthy reds. Cabernet Sauvignon is the most-planted grape and its calling card — in varietal and Bordeaux-blend form — alongside Merlot, Syrah, Pinotage, Chenin Blanc, and Chardonnay.
